Atal Bihari Vajpayee, one of the most respected and loved Prime Ministers of India, was born on 25-12-1924 in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, India. He was the 10th Indian Prime Minister, a great Politician and a Poet.

Atal Bihari Vajpayee was a name, which is well recognized and respectively taken by every citizen of India. He was a man with values and emotions, who acted and reacted in every situation of crisis with all his mind and vigilance. The Bharat Ratna holder was on the chair of Indian Prime Minister for three Nonconsecutive terms between the years 1996 and 2004. He was one of the first Indian leaders, outside the Congress party, to have served a full five-year term for his position. He had always been regarded as one of the most powerful and intelligent decision makers of the economy.
He completed his school level education from Saraswati Shishu Mandir, Gwalior and obtained his graduate degree from Victoria College, Gwalior. After which he enrolled at the DAV College in Kanpur and obtained his MA degree in political science from there. He was a true patriot and right from his school days, he participated in various political events. He got elected as an MP for the first time in the year 1957 from Balrampur constituency in Uttar Pradesh. He was well known for delivering powerful speeches. He was a member of Bhartiya Jan Sangh served as the Minister of External Affairs after a coalition government came in power in 1977. After this coalition got split, he along with Bhairon Singh Shekhawat and Lal Krishna Advani formed a new political front called BJP (Bhartiya Janta Party) in 1980. He was elected as party’s first president. After BJP’s poor performance in 1984 assembly elections, he worked tirelessly and BJP took giant strides to get 88 seats in 1989 general elections compared to 2 in 1984.
Finally, after BJP emerged as the single largest party in 1996, he became the Prime Minister of India. Though failing to obtain a majority, his government lasted just 13 days. He once again became the Prime Minister and this time served his full term of 5 years from 1998 to 2004. Under his term, some of the most important events and decisions were taken for the benefits of the country. One of the most significant, Kargil war, has known to be fought when he was in the term. His positive handling of the Kargil crisis always turned out to be a positive factor for his political career. Along with this, The Lahore Summit, series of Nuclear Tests, hijack of Indian Airlines in December 1999, and many foreign, social and economic reforms are few of the highlighting factors of the term served by the victorious Prime Minister, Atal Bihari Vajpayee. He is currently in his 90s and is dealing with various health-related problems.
