Chitra Ramkrishna Complete Bio & Career
Chitra is a highly qualified woman. She did B. COm from R.A. Podar College of Commerce and Economics, Mumbai. THe, she attended CHarted Institute of Management Accountants, UK, and obtained a Bachelor of Laws degree. After completing her studies, she started working in the finance division of Industrial development of India in 1985. Also, she worked at the Securities and Exchange Board of India.
She was the first Indian Women CEO ad Managing Director of the National Stock Exchange 2013. She resigned from the post in 2016. The reason behind her resignation was the allegations of sharing the trading information of NSE with many established brokers in India. Also, a show-cause notice was issued against her along with 14 others including Subramaniam Anand. It was also claimed that the appointment of Subramaniam Anand as Cheif Security Officer was also made in the wrong manner on her recommendation of her. As she was found guilty in the case, SEBI imposed a penalty of 3 crores on her and also barred her from any activities related to the stock exchange for five years.
On February 17, 2021, the Income Tax department raided her residence in case of tax evasion. During the investigation, Chitra's laptop was also investigated. It was found that Chitra had shared the confidential information of NSE with an unknown person through e-mails for the past 20 years. It was revealed by her that she has shared the information with her spiritual Guru who used to lives in the Himalayas. On March 6, 2022, CBI arrested Chitra under the charges of scam at NSE.
