Harish Rawat Complete Bio & Career

The dynamic Indian politician Harish Rawat was born in a Rajput family of Almora district. He completed his graduation in Arts and then obtained his Law degree from the University of Lucknow. Harish started his political career from the villages and ended up reaching Parliament. 
 
In his early days in politics, he served as Indian Youth Congress member and Trade Unionist of Congress party for several years. He was handed a Lok Sabha ticket for the first time in 1980 Lok Sabha election and he defeated none other than veteran Indian politician Murli Manohar Joshi of BJP and entered the Parliament for the first time in his career. 
 
He has been an MP for five times and in Manmohan Singh’s cabinet, he served as a Union Minister of s. Water Resources. He has handed various other important posts in UPA 2 government. He has also served as a Rajya Sabha MP for one term in his decorated political career. 
 
After a lot of criticism when Vijay Bahuguna resigned, he was made the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand in 2014. He remained Chief Minister of Uttarakhand for three years. He was Congress party’s chief Ministerial candidate in the 2017 Uttarakhand Assembly elections as well. He lost in the constituencies from where he contested for 2017 assembly elections and thus had to give up his post.
