Harsimrat Kaur Badal after completion of her school education enrolled for a diploma in textile designing and obtained her diploma degree in it. She after her marriage to Sukhbir Singh Badal entered into politics.
 
She got elected from Bhatinda constituency in the 2009 general elections. She has been a quite vocal leader and soon after wins, she raised the issue of Sikh riots of 1984. She defended her constituency in the 2014 general elections as well. This time she was up against her husband’s cousin brother, Manpreet Badal. She during campaigning distributed free bicycles to girls so that they can travel to school easily. After defending her constituency, she was made the Minister of Food Processing in Narendra Modi’s cabinet.
 
Besides politics, she also takes interest in her husband’s business. Badals have a huge empire in the fields of agriculture, media and hotel industry. She also runs her own private jewelry business in the Gurgaon’s Trident Hotel. She is also busy with various social causes. She has set up a charitable school which provides free education to street children.

She was born to Sukhmanjus and Satyajit Majithia. Politician Bikram Singh Majithia is her brother. She is married to Sukhbir Singh Badal and together the couple has two daughters named Gurleen Kaur and Harkirat Kaur and a son named Anantbir Singh.
