Jai Ram Thakur Complete Bio & Career

Jai Ram Thakur is a well-known personality of Indian politics. He has worked as a Member of Legislative Assembly in Himachal Pradesh Assembly and previously worked as one of the Cabinet Minister in Himachal Pradesh’s government when BJP was ruling. He is elected as the new Chief Minister of the Himachal Pradesh state. He finished his schooling from Government Senior Secondary school Bagsiad and later attended Vallabh Govt. College to complete his Bachelor of Arts degree in Mandi. He attended Panjab University for his Master of Arts degree from in Chandigarh.
 
He got associated with Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad while perceiving his graduation at Vallabh Govt. College. He was the Joint Secretary of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad for the state till 1986. He later became Organizing Secretary of ABVP. He served as a Bhartiya Janata Party Yuva Morcha’s state secretary and then president of State Bhartiya Janata Party Yuva Morcha. He was elected as Vice President and then president of the State Bhartiya Janata Party. He had an acceptable and non-controversial term as a President.
 
He won the State Legislative Assembly election in 1998 and again re-elected in both 2003 and 2007 election from Chachiot Assembly Constituency. He continued to be the Chairman of General Development Committee & Education Committee and also served as a Vice-Chairman of State Civil Supplies Corporation Ltd. He worked as a Chairman of Rural Planning Committee and was a member of different House Committees. He was then selected as Panchayati Raj and Rural Development Minister. He continued winning the State Legislative Assembly even in 2012. He became the Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh in December 2017.

He was born to Bikramu Devi and late Jethu Ram Thakur in a poor farming family. He has 3 brothers and 2 sisters. He is married to Sadhna, who is a doctor by profession and also a former ABVP member. The couple is blessed with 2 daughters. His wife Sadhana is known for her social work and is one of the well-known doctors in the district. He also gets involved in her social work and had organized many blood donation camps with her.
