Siraj hails from a very humble and poor background. He along with his family resides in a very small rented apartment in Banjara Hills, Hyderabad. Siraj's dad Ghouse Mohammad is an auto-rickshaw driver and is the only earning member of the family.
 
Siraj though was always interested in cricket but because of the financial circumstances of the family, he was unable to join a coaching school. He though never gave up and finally made his debut representing Hyderabad in the 2015-16 Ranji Trophy. He played nine matches for them and took 41 wickets and that is how he rose to ranks. This performance of his earned him a berth in the Rest of India team for the Irani Cup.
 
After repeating his heroics in the next domestic season as well, he was roped in by the IPL franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad for a whopping 2.6 crores in the 2017 IPL player auctions. He became a vital cog in Hyderabad bowling line up. He was adjourned Man of The Match in the last league match of IPL 2017 which was a must-win game for his side. After some impressive performances at the domestic level, he was included in India's T20I squad when New Zealand toured India in 2017. He had a forgettable debut and so was his ODI debut in 2019 vs Australia. He hasn't been able to do justice to his talent. He was roped in by RCB in 2018 for a sum of INR 2.6 crores.
