Neiphiu Rio was born on 11-11-1950 in Kohima in the state of Nagaland, India. He is an Indian Politician.

Neiphiu Rio finished his school level instruction at the Baptist English School Kohima and Sainik School Purulia. He at that point learned at St Joseph's College Darjeeling and got a B.A. degree from Kohima Arts College. 
 
A dynamic Student pioneer in his School and College days, Sri Neiphiu Rio went into the domain governmental issues at an exceptionally youthful age. He had headed numerous renowned associations previously turning into the Nagaland Chief Minister. He was a dynamic youth pioneer and turned into the President of the UDF (Kohima area) in 1974. In 1976, he was made the President of the UDF Youth Wing (Nagaland). 
 
In 1989, he was chosen to the Nagaland Legislative Assembly as a Congress hopeful from Northern Angami voting public and named Minister for Sports and School Education. In 1993, he was re-chosen from an indistinguishable body electorate from a Congress competitor and selected Minister Works and Housing. In 1998, he was again chosen from Northern Angami and delegated Home Minister. In September 2002, he surrendered from the Ministry and in November 2002 surrendered from the Nagaland Legislative Assembly. He hence surrendered from the Congress party itself. 
 
In November 2002, he established the Nagaland People's front and challenged the races as a NPF applicant from Northern Angami and was chosen. He was then chosen pioneer of the Democratic Alliance of Nagaland (DAN) - a coalition of gatherings and turned into the Chief Minister on sixth walk 2003. He remained CM till third January 2008 when President's lead was forced on the State. He, on the other hand, turned into the CM of the state and served till 2014. He surrendered from his post of CM subsequent to getting chose to Lok Sabha in 2014.
