Nelly Complete Bio & Career
Popularly known as "Nelly", Cornell Iral Haynes Jr. is an American singer, rapper, songwriter, investor, entrepreneur, and occasional actor. He formed a hip-hop group St. Lunatics as a teenager. Later he was signed by Universal Music Group. It branded him as Midwest’s star. His debut album 'Country Grammar' got him the fame in 2000.
'Nellyville' was his second album which debuted at no.1 on Billboard's Top 200 Music Albums. He won 'Best Male Rap Solo Performance' Grammy Award in 2003. His single "Hot in Herre" became a number-one hit that time. Later he worked for the albums Da Derrty Versions: Reinvention, Bad Boys II, Sweat, and Suit, Brass Knuckles etc. He also contributed to tsunami aid in a 'Concert for Hope' in 2004 which was organized for the Indian Ocean earthquake benefit. His music video 'Tip Drill Remix' became controversial due to the misogyny of women. His single'Pimp Juice' was also in controversy for the same reason.
His next album 5.0 was released in 2010. His single from this album "Just a Dream" was a hit and is one of his highest-charting songs."My Kinda Girl" from 'Planet Pit' featured him. He came up with his first official solo mixtape, "On Everything MO"( O.E.MO) in 2011. He was coach on 'The Next: Fame Is at Your Doorstep' by the CW Television Network.'Scorpio Season' was his second mixtape. He started working on his own show'Nellyville' on BET from 2014. His new single "The Fix" was released in 2015.
His career in film started in 2001 with a film 'Snipes' in which he played a character of a popular rapper. He got fame with the remake of 'The Longest Yard'.CBS crime drama CSI: NY featured him in one of the episodes. He worked in 'A Fall from Grace' in 2014. His other ventures include a deal with 'Air Derrty', a shoe deal with Reebok. He also worked in ads for Ford Motor Company and Got Milk. Nelly owns a female clothing line 'Apple Bottoms' and one for men 'Vokal'. The Charlotte Bobcats had it as one of the owners for some period.
He played at PokerStars Caribbean Adventure and The PokerStars European Poker Tour. He performed at 2007 World Series of Poker. 'Celebrity Sweat' is a fitness DVD released by him in 2010. He co-founded music production school 'Ex'treme Institute'.
