S Ramchandran Pillai was born on 7th February 1938 in Alappuzha in the state of Kerala, India. He is an Indian Politician.

S. Ramachandran Pillai Complete Bio & Career

S Ramchandran Pillai studied law from Law Colleges of Thiruvananthapuram and Ernakulam. He joined politics in the year 1956 and advanced to the post of Branch Secretary in 1959 and Area Committee Member in the year 1964. After which he was elevated to Dist. Committee member in 1968. Elected to Kerala State Committee of the CPI(M) in 1969. District Secretary of Alappuzha between 1980 and 1982. Elected to the State Secretariat in 1982.  He was in charge of the CPI (M), since 1992 and served as a President of the All India Kisan Sabha in 1999. During his political career, he was sent to jail on many occasions, like during the Emergency in 1975.
 
He has served as the Chief Editor of Deshabhimani, the Malayalam daily organ of CPI (M) from the year 1987 to 1991. In his illustrious political career, he has also served as the Member of Rajya Sabha twice, in 1991 and 1997. For his political work, he has visited many countries like Germany, USSR, China, Japan, Vietnam, Singapore, Bulgaria, Romania, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, UAE, and Syria. 
 
He married to  Rethnamma in 1966. The couple is blessed with three children Bipin Chandran, Brinda, and Bijoy Chandran.
