Sheetal Devi Complete Bio & Career
Sheetal Devi, an Indian Para Archer was born and grew up in a Hindu Pahri family in Loidhar village in Jammu & Kashmir. She was born without arms. She completed her matriculation from her village. She played with wooden arrow bow in her childhood. She is the first and only female para-archery champion without upper limbs.
She was noticed first time by siner archer Kuldeep Wadhwan & Abhilasha Chaudhary at the youth event 2019 in Kishtwar. Kuldeep Wadhwan was impresed with her confidence level and said her for archer trainig. She decided to begin her training, while doctors said it's impossible. She started tree climbing with her legs and being sucessful. Then she joined the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Archery Academy in Katra, where she got her professional training of archery.
With in only 11 months training, she was named in the women's compound bow event at the 2022 Asian Para Games, which was on 28-10-2023 in Hangzhou, China. In the Asian Para Games 2022, she won two Gold Medals, and one Silver Medal for India. Then, she received the Asian Paralympic Committee Awards for Best Youth Athlete of the Year 2023, and the World Archery Awards for Best Women Para Archer of the Year 2023.
On 09-01-2024, she was awarded the Arjuna Award at Rashtrapati Bhavan by the Presedent of India, Droupadi Murmu. She became the youngest athlete to compete in women's para archery at the 2024 Summer Paralympics. She became the World No.1 with 703 point, by braking the previous world record of 698. On 28-09-2025, she won Gold Medal at the 2025 World Para Archery Championships.
