Shiv CharanMathur was born on 14th February 1926 in Guna district, Madhya Pradesh. He is a Politician and leader of the Indian National Congress.

Shiv Charan Mathur Complete Bio & Career

Shiv Charan began his political career in the year 1957. He won the Municipal Elections held in Bhilwara and was soon appointed the Chairman of the Municipal Council. He soon emerged as a prominent political figure and held several posts in the Government. He was the Chairman of the Zilla Parishad in Bhilwara from 1960-1964. He also became the member of the Lok Sabha twice. He was the member of Rajya Sabha in Rajasthan for six terms. He was a member of the Rajasthan Cabinet. Shiv Charan was the Chief Minister of Rajasthan for two terms. He first served as the Chief Minister from 1981-1985 and subsequently from the year 1988-1989. 
 
Shiv Charan was known as a visionary politician. He always worked for the betterment of the people. He established the Social Policy Research Institute in the year 1985. The sole motto of this institute was to uplift the people living below poverty line. He was also appointed as the Governor of Assam in the year 2008 and he died while he was still in the post.

Shiv Charan passed away on 25th June 2009 following a massive cardiac arrest. The Rajasthan state Government declared three-day mourning for their ex- chief Minister. He was a competent politician and fought some of the difficult battles in politics. He held several posts and was a prominent leader of the Indian National Congress.
