Tej Pratap did his studies up to 10+2. He is the son of Bihar former Chief Minister Rabri Devi and Lalu Prasad Yadav. He married the Bihar's former CM Daroga Prasad Rai, granddaughter Aishwarya. From November 2015 to July 2017, he appointed as a cabinet minister in the govt of Nitish Kumar, although he was not had any political experience in holding the public office and ignored several other senior as politicians of his party.
He evolved into controversy for making use of Hindi phrase for "ignored" rather than the Hindi phrase for "expected" in Hindi on the occasion of the swearing-in ceremony. He was cleared up for the error by the governor. He portrayed the character of Bihar's CM in the Bhojpuri movie Apaharan Udyog. Even though his Hindi debuted film Rudra: The Avatar has not been released yet.
