Alka Yagnik holds the record of 35 nominations and 7 Filmfare awards currently. She entered the music industry with an iconic song Ek Do Teen from Anil Kapoor & Madhuri Dixit starrer movie Tezaab in 1988. Her songs and the golden voice continued to echo in our hearts all the while.
 
As many as 20 of her songs have made it to the list of BBC’s Top 40 Bollywood songs of all time. Her iconic song Choli Ke Peechhe was voted as the Hottest Song of the Century by a website named Sanona.com.
 
She is well-known for her association with all the biggest music directors of Bollywood. Her association with Laxmikant- Pyarelal gave blockbuster songs for the films like Khuda Gawah, Hum, Agneepath and the biggest of them all Tezaab and Khalnayak among several others. She got associated with Nadeem- Shravan and sing in movies such as Phool Aur Kaante  Saajan, Deewana  Raja, Dilwale,  Kasoor, Raja Hindustani and Andaaz among others. To date, she remains as one of the leading female playback singers of all time.
 
Apart from films, she has recorded songs in albums like Shairana and Tum Aaye. For her independent album Shairana, she worked with legendary lyricist Javed Akhtar and famed singer Hariharan. She has also recorded a string of devotional songs and bhajans as well.  She has also recorded the Hanuman Chalisa.
 
In an illustrious career that she had, she has sung in many languages like Gujarati, Urdu, Assamese, Avadhi, Bhojpuri, Bengali, Manipuri, Malayalam, Oriya, Marathi, Rajasthani, Nepali, Tamil, Telugu,  and English. She has also judged singing based reality shows on television. She was the leading voice of Bollywood during the decade of the 1990s and formed a formiddable pairing wuth Kumar Sanu and Udit Narayan.
