Bhagat Singh Koshyari was born on 17-06-1942 in Palnadura, Bageshwar in the state of Uttarakhand, India. He is an Indian Politician who belongs to BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party). He has served as 2nd Chief Minister of Uttarakhand state & appointed Governor of Maharashtra in Sep 2019.

Bhagat Singh Koshyari began his political career while he was in college. He served as the general secretary of the students' union of Almora College from 1961-1962. After completing his M.A., he started his career as a journalist and a teacher. He served as a lecturer at Raja Inter College, Raja Ka Rampur, Etah, UP. He then founded Parvat Piyush, a weekly published from Pithoragarh in the year 1975. During eergency, he got associated with the RSS and raised his vooice durng the emergency. For 2 years during emergency, he was jailed in Fatehgarh Central Jail under MISA act. After the newly formed state of Uttarakhand, he served as the CM of Uttarakhand in 2001. He was then made BJP's president of Uttarakhand state. In 2002, his party lost the Uttarakhand State election and he served as the leader of opposition fron 2002 to 2007. In 2007, his party again came into power in Uttarakhand but he was denied the CM post. In 2008, he was sent to Rajya Sabha and served his term as a Rajya Sabha MP til 2014. 

In 2014, he got elected as a Lok Sabha MP from Nainital-Udhamsingh Nagar constituency. After this vctory, he got appointed as BJP's chief in Uttarakhand and was also made the BJP National Vice-President. During his term, he founded some schools in Uttarakhand such as Vivekanand Vidya Mandir Inter College, Pithoragarh, and Saraswati Shishu Mandir, Pithoragarh among others. He is also a writer and has published a couple of books, Uttaranchal Sangharsh Evam Samadhan and Uttaranchal Pradesh Kyun?. In September 2019, he was appointed as the Governor of Maharashtra.
