Birendra Krishna Bhadra was born on 04-08-1905 in Ahiritola his maternal home, in Calcutta, Bengal Presidency, British India (Now Kolkata, West Bengal, India). He was an Indian Playwright, Dramatist, Broadcaster, Film Actor, Theatre Actor, Theatre Director, Theatre Producer, Screenwriter, Singer, Playback Singer, Narrator & Radio Artist who worked predominantly in Bengali Theatre & All India Radio.

Birendra Krishna Bhadra had the privilege to grow up in a very musical family. From a very early age, he showed a keen interest in singing and acting. At a very early age, Birendra Krishna was diagnosed with the life-threatening disease diphtheria. An English doctor whom they consulted, after examining Birendra Krishna said he can save his life but won’t be able to safeguard his vocal cord. His life was saved but since then his voice became very different from other normal people.
 
Birendra Krishna was adept in almost all forms of broadcasting. He was at once a sports commentator, singer, scriptwriter, drama producer, drama artist, announcer, & special programme presenter. His presentation of reply to listeners’ letters in the programme 'Sabinoy Nibedan' was immensely popular. His special programme scripted & presented by him 'Birupakheyr Asar', a humorous commentary on the travails of the common man is still fondly remembered by many for its breezy language & clever dialogues.
 
His legacy remained intact even after he died and the famous music company Saregama India Ltd., gave his daughter a cheque of INR 50,917 as royalty for his father's famous work in 2006. His most noted plays include Sat Tulsi 1940 and Blackout among others.
