Khudiram did his schooling from Hamilton High School. He was very Patriotic from childhood. In 1902 Sri Aurobindo and 1903 Sister Nivedita visited Calcutta and gave series of lectures and private classes to the revolutionary groups. Khudiram was the active attendee of all the sessions and lectures given by them.
At the age of 15, he decided to join Anushilan Smiti and became a volunteer in the Smiti. At the age of 16, he was got arrested for distributing pamphlets against Britishers. After getting released, he took part in the mission to plant bombs near the police station and British offices. He was given the responsibility to murder Kingsford along with Prafulla Chakki.
Both of them changed their identities and start living in an inn near the Kingsford residence. For many days, they kept an eye on his activities and traced him so that they can get a chance to kill him. One day when Kingsford was going in a carriage along with his family, Prafulla and Khudiram rushed fastly towards them and threw a bomb on the carriage.
After it, they took their ways to get escape. Khudiram walked for 25 miles and reached the station named Waini. But as he went to a tea stall to have water he was seen by two police constables who arrested him. Khudiram tried to shoot the constables but his gun fell. After fetting searched, police found many suspected things from him.
When he was brought to the Muzzafarnagar railway station by the police, the station was crowded with the people who wanted to see the young revolutioner who did not have even a sign of fear on his face. he was continuously crying 'Vande Matram'.
In 1908 the first hearing of his case was held. Khudiram's case was fought by Kalidas Basu and Upendranath Sen. On the advice of his lawyers Khudiram denied the fact that he was involved in any conspiracy and submitted a plea for pity. The judge decided a life sentence for him which was not expected by his lawyers.
Bose made two other pleas before the pannel and requested to change a death sentence to life imprisonment but the order was not changed. He was sentenced to death on 11 August 1908 and hanged till death.
