Padmini Kolhapure is a famous Indian singer and actress. She has worked prominently in Hindi and Marathi cinema. She did her schooling at a private school in Mumbai. Later, she attended St. Xavier's College for higher studies. She started her career at a very young age.

She made her acting debut in the Bollywood film 'Ek Khiladi Bawan Patte' in 1974 as a child artist. Later, she was seen as a child artist in several hit movies such as Ishk Ishk Ishk, Zindagi, Dream Girl, Saajan Bina Suhagan, and Satyam Shivam Sundaram. She was seen as a Young adult in the film 'Thodisi Bewafaii' in 1980 as Meenu opposite Rajesh Khanna & Shabana Azmi. She won his first Filmfare Award for best supporting actress for her performance in the Bollywood film 'Insaaf Ka Tarazu' in 1980. She made her Bollywood debut as a lead actress in the film 'Ahista Ahista' in 1981 as Chandra opposite Kunal Kapoor, Shammi Kapoor, Nanda, and others. For which, she won the 2nd Filmfare Award for special performance. In the same year, she was seen in the film 'Zamaane Ko Dikhana Hai' as Kanchan opposite Rishi Kapoor.

In 1982, she acted in Raj Kapoor's Hindi musical romantic drama film 'Prem Rog' as Manorama opposite Rishi Kapoor. The film went super hit at the box office, and she won the Filmfare Award for best actress. To date, this film has aired on several TV channels as well as has been watched more than 40 million times on YouTube. In the same year, she was seen in films such as Vidhaata, Star, and Swami Dada. She never looked back and gave several memorable and hit performances in Hindi cinema. She also made her Malayalam film debut in 2012 with the film titled 'Karmayogi' opposite Indrajith & Nithya Menon. After a long break, she was seen in the Bollywood film 'Panipat' in 2019 as Gopika Bai. In 2025, she appeared in the Bollywood film 'Jhaad Phoonk' as Meenakshi opposite Sumbul Touqeer.

She also made her small-screen debut in the Hindi television series 'Ekk Nayi Pehchaan' in 2014 as Pallavi Suresh Modi opposite Krystle D'Souza, Poonam Dhillon, Karan Sharma, and others. Next, she was seen in the Hindi web series 'Dil Bekaraar' in 2021 as Bhudevi Thakur opposite Akshay Oberoi, Sahher Bambba, Anjali Anand, Raj Babbar, and others. In 2025, she appeared in the Hindi television series 'Chakravarti Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan' as Rajmata opposite Ronit Roy.

Besides acting, she also sang several songs for Bollywood movies such as Yaadon Ki Baaraat (1973), Kitab (1977), Dushman Dost (1981), Vidhaata (1982), Sadak Chhap (1987), Daana Paani (1989), and Professor Ki Padosan (1993).
